Evangelistic Opportunities
Church members are encouraged to have a heart for outreach in order to foster opportunities for evangelicalism. Our evangelical strategies vary from going door-to-door inviting neighbors to church and encouraging church members to invite their family, friends or co-workers to hosting events such as soccer, arts, ESL, VBS, picnics, ladies teas and BBQs and hosting the Emme group, a traveling evangelistic musical missionary group.

It is our view that any given moment can naturally become a unique opportunity to share the Gospel so long as we remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting. Be it while preaching at a funeral, providing hospital visitation, or while traveling on an airplane, the message of God’s Love and Salvation in Christ can be shared anywhere, at any time, in a myriad of situations. It is with this open view that church members are encouraged to seize the daily opportunities they have to spread the Gospel.

Leading local
​short-term mission groups
Pinheirópolis Church is mission-oriented with members going on frequent mission trips to surrounding communities in order to spread the Gospel. For years these mission trips have occurred on a monthly basis which in turn supported the establishment and growth of Serrote dos Bois Church and Boa Esperança Church. It is this focus on missions that led Pinheirópolis Church to support native missionaries such as Pr. Rogério through seminary, making him the first ever Pankararu Indian in the state of Pernambuco to become an ordained native minister, which opens up a whole new Brazilian native Indian tribe to be reached for Christ.

​Operation Christmas Child
Since Franklin Graham's Evangelistic Crusade in Recife, Brazil in 2001, Phil has continued to be invited as an interpreter under their ministry to the present day.

Today he is one of the Senior Representatives for Samaritan’s Purse scholarship in the Latin Americas (representing 10 countries) for Operation Christmas Child. Phil frequently travels in order to help recruit, select and train Ministry Partners.  Through instruction and coaching leader volunteers a successful evangelistic event is insured. Not only are shoe boxes gifted, the gospel message presented but also a follow up program is implemented for weeks after the event to ensure children have a clear understanding of the Gospel called The Greatest Journey Discipleship courses.

Phil and Rita have opened the Pinheirópolis church as a key location to host the training of Ministry Partners for the surrounding region. Also, with trained members from their local church, they have distributed shoe boxes and hosted the implementation of The Greatest Journey follow-up discipleship program for the children at all the church plants.

​Short-Term Mission Groups
​The Warkentiens have welcomed and hosted short-term teams from the USA who come down to Brazil to minister throughout the years.  The groups have come with many different gifts and purposes that provided an opening for sharing the Gospel and the Salvation message. They have provided ESL at schools, gone door-to-door, done outreach programs, played sports, skits, and shared personal evangelistic testimony. Groups have helped at different stages of the building of all the church plants starting from benches for the Pinheirópolis church to digging for the Serrote dos Bois church.  

Even though the goal of the trips is evangelizing Brazilians.  Everyone who comes as part of the groups gets blessed through the experience of being a cross cultural missionary. They learn how to share their faith and how to give the basic Gospel presentation.  Beware though, if you come, Phil will put you to work somehow and share your personal testimony.
